Roof Repointing & Rebedding

Take a look at your ridge line, the row of capping tiles running along the top and hips of your roof. If the mortar underneath is cracked, crumbling or falling into your gutters, water is already finding its way in. Failed pointing is one of the most common causes of roof leaks in Brisbane, and one of the most affordable to fix properly.

What's the Difference Between Repointing and Rebedding?

Rebedding resets your ridge caps on a fresh bed of mortar, securing them properly to the roof, needed when caps are loose, rocking or have come away entirely

Repointing  applies a modern flexible pointing compound over the bedding, sealing the ridge caps and allowing them to move with your roof's natural expansion instead of cracking like old rigid mortar

Re-sarking installs a new protective membrane under your roof tiles, improving insulation and water resistance

Re-clipping re-secures tiles so they stay put through Brisbane's storm season winds

Most older Brisbane roofs were pointed with rigid cement mortar, which cracks as the roof expands and contracts. Modern flexible pointing solves the problem for good.

Signs Your Roof Needs Repointing

- Cracked or crumbling mortar visible along ridge lines

- Pieces of mortar in your gutters after rain or storms

- Loose or rattling ridge caps in high wind

- Water stains on ceilings near the roofline

- Your roof is 15+ years old and has never been repointed

Left too long, loose ridge caps can dislodge entirely in a storm — turning a straightforward repointing job into emergency repairs. If the rest of your roof surface is also tired, it may be worth bundling repointing into a full roof restoration, where it's included as a standard step.
